INVACARE

Lucy Shuker and Australian partner Daniela di Toro have teamed up to win the women’s wheelchair doubles title at the Trofeo della Mole in Turin, Italy.

After a first round bye, Shuker and di Toro dropped just six games en route to the final where they defeated Germany’s Katharina Kruger and Belgium’s Annick Sevenans 6-3 6-1.

The title completes a good week for the British No.1, who has moved to a new career high doubles world ranking of No.6 after partnering di Toro to finish runner-up in the inaugural women's wheelchair doubles event at Wimbledon.

Shuker also reached the singles semi-final in Turin but was knocked out by her doubles partner and eventual champion, di Toro, 6-3 6-4.

The 29 year-old from Taunton now returns home to finalise her preparations for two weeks of world class wheelchair tennis in Nottingham, beginning with the British Open, which starts on 20th July.

Shuker will then be one of 13 players representing Great Britain at the 25th Anniversary Invacare World Team Cup, the Davis and Fed Cups of wheelchair tennis, which gets underway on 27th July.
